I've just emailed a bunch of links off to a friend who needed some health care information and was getting overwhelmed by what was out there on the web. It occurred to me I could post the two major sites I start at for my reasearch that many people don't think about going to.
One is the National Institute of Health site, which has a ton of patient informaton.
http://www.nih.gov/
The other is the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, which is a site for reviewing the studies and research for specific topics and making recommendations for the best evidenced based practice. It's a little more health care professional focused, but it's a great place for getting a summary of good evidenced based practice, like treatment of ear infections.
