(ETA: read this saga, if you will, but also read how babyage attempts to redeem itself in other thread.)

Another vote against babyage. I am not usually a ranter. This just goes to show how angry I am.

Apparently, babyage used to be good. They have great prices and a friendly-seeming website. But they have reportedly moved recently and they are accumulating unhappy customers.

This is all on the bitching post, but it really belongs here.
I ordered a Britax Marathon on 12/28/04. $214. Great deal.

The website never told me it was backordered, but I get an e-mail on 1/4 saying "backordered. expected delay 5-7 days." No biggie.

I write the next week. No response.
I write again the week after that. No response.

I call when I finally have a minute during the day (they are on the opposite coast from me). The "mailbox is full." Nobody answers on either the customer service line OR the sales line. 20 minutes of "Me time" wasted.

I check the backorder status on their help page. One day it says 5 more days, then 3 more days, then 2 more days, then 5 more days again. WHAT?

I FINALLY get a "tracking notice" on 1/29. "Yippee! The item's been shipped," I think. No such luck. The "tracking notice" directs me to the UPS site which tells me, "That is not a valid UPS tracking number." I'm at the end of my rope with these people.

Luckily, my credit card company will allow me to file for a refund within 90 days of ordering if I don't get the item.

Unluckily, my DD is growing out of her infant carrier and I got my hopes up for a great seat at a great price.

ORDER ELSEWHERE!

Oh I am having the same problem. I ordered a Marathon Jan. 13 and they called on the 18th to confirm my credit card info (5 days later!!)and I specifically asked if it was backordered and they said no. The next day I received and email and it said it was backordered to expect a 5-7 business day delay...never heard from them again. Why even bother having a business? What's the point...they are missing out on a lot of sales. Very disappointing.

I have to agree with Marisa on this one I am having the same problem.

This is more than two people for the same item that they have managed to tick off.

Anywhere there is a place online to rate this company I am doing so.

Wish I had read this thread as I just placed an order with them! Will let everyone know how it goes. In any case, if you have a UPS tracking number you will likely get the item soon. They can assign a tracking number before it has even been picked up for shipping (so it may not have been picked up for shipping until today), and it can be a day or 2 even after it has shipped before it shows up on the UPS site (you will just get invalid tracking until then). I would suspect there will be tracking information either tonight or tomorrow night. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip. I checked UPS again -- it's not even the right "type" of number. Based on Christy's experience, I tried Fed Ex -- they have it and my carseat is expected to arrive in SF on 2/4. (Yes, the babyage e-mail directed me to check UPS, no mention of FedEx.)

Good luck with your order -- if it's not a Marathon in Handful, you might actually receive it!

M,
I just checked mine, it is actually on the way too, expected delivery of 2/1/05, amazing. Maybe the calls/faxes/emails got their butts in gear. ;)

Fat chance. I think they are just super-dooper slowpokes who don't care about their rep for some reason (coasting on the fact that they offer super low prices?).

Christy -- are you like me in expecting that the box is going to come horribly mangled and the carseat is going to be a 2001 model with a different cover? Oy.

unbelievable. If it were not for you gals I'd have no reason to believe my order really shipped. They said it shipped yesterday and I had the exact same experience checking my tracking number at UPS to be told my package didn't exist. So I just checked Fedex and sure enough my carseat is scheduled to be here on Feb. 7--it really is on it's way to arrive only almost one month after I ordered it. and do they think we have nothing better to do than waste our time checking non-existent tracking numbers at the wrong shipping company. UGGH

Just as a follow-up.
Placed my order Monday afternoon, and it is already showing as shipped (Ameda Purely Yours). So I just wanted to provide some positive feedback.

I do feel for everyone who is ranting about Baby Age.com - I AHD THE SAME EXACT EXPERIENCE (britax car seat and all). See my post in this same board: http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=16&topic_id=1452&mode=full&page=2

I finally prdered a Britax carseat from Philip at babysupermarket.com - he was awesome as far as communication and I got my carseat a few days after I ordered.

I ordered the seat from Babyage on Dec 4th approx. It finally got delivered sometime in mid-January - i just refused delivery.

Good Luck!

:)
