Anyone knonws if custom car seat covers are OK to use? I mean if there is any insurance or safty issue with using a seat cover that is not made by the car seat company... Thanks.

Hmm, I'm not sure. But I do know you aren't supposed to add after market pads (piddle pads) or head supports -- so I doubt that after market covers are ok either. I would contact the seat maker and get a cover from them.

They are considered as 'after-market' as in not tested as part of the seat itself. So, there might be the safety issue, there might not be but since they were never tested together as a system, one cannot ever know.

There is also the issues of warranty voided since a cover/part not made by the carseat manufacture, possibility of liability avoidance by carseat manufacture as well as insurance company, etc.

Are you thinking about the pretty Britax Marathon covers on sale on ebay? Cute, but are they worth the risks?

Yes, it is the pretty custom-made Marathon covers on ebay that prompted this question. I knew it was too good to be true. Well, I guess there won't be cute cover for my DS's seat afterall. Thanks for the answers.
