Zooper shipping to Canada?

I think we have decided on the Zooper Zydeco and the places in Canada that sell it tend to be around $100 over the exchange rate, so we were hoping to buy it online from the US. We haven't been able to find any online shopps that ship to Canada.

Do you know of any US online shopps that ship Zoopers to Canada?

Just an FYI, you might want to check what the duty rates will be. THat is the reason why most China-made strollers (such as Zoopers and many other brands) are more in Canada than the US. You don't want to be surprised when you get the final bill....

Also, if you use either FedEx or UPS to ship, they will charge you a brokerage fee (usually $50).

I've found with strollers it is cheaper to either buy them here or purchase them in the US when I can bring them back using my personal exemption.

I certainly haven't seen or heard of more of them being in Canada than in the US! The problem is, I haven't found anywhere that shipps here to begin with. Checking out the duty and taxes, etc is the next step.

The sites I looked at when looking to purchase a stroller in the states did not ship to Canada. I thought it was odd but was lucky enough to be able to buy in the states and ship to my brother's place in Michigan where my parents will pick up the stroller in a few weeks.

I assume you don't live close enough to the border to have it shipped there? We live 5 minutes from the US/Canada border but didn't want to deal with the duty and taxes.

Others have told you things to consider, but don't forget if you find a place to ship to Canada, shipping is usually high. The Zoopers are not exactly light weight either. Don't be surprise if shipping can be about $30-50 USD.

Plus duty and taxes (made in China certainly will be tariffed), depend on method of shipping add $35-50 Cad for brokerage fee for a shipping company to clear the stroller across the border for you. Add all that up, it's certainly more than the $100 Cad you plan to save.

Big item like strollers, unless you can bring it personally from the US, it's cheaper to buy it in Canada.

Marilyn is great to deal with and very knowledgable.

She was very helpful earlier this year when I was getting antsy waiting for an Inglesina stroller to make it here. That was until I found out the total cost to ship it to Toronto was about $100.00 more than the Canadian MSRP. That calmed me down enough to wait the few weeks to get it here. lol!

I would be happy to support the Canadian economy if the shoppes here weren't so ludicrously overpriced :P Tj's is $75 US more than the US shoppes!

Where do you live? If you have a Zooper distributer nearby, the savings in shipping will be less than the cost difference. We have always had Zoopers here in Calgary even though we just got Maclarens and I have yet to see an Inglesina. Zooper has a very wide distribution. Go to http://www.zooper.com/stores.html - just about every province (except a few of the maritimes) is covered there. Also check local stores for sales - I stumbled upon a Zooper Boogie locally (Zydeco without the boot) for $399 CDN.

I agree with the other ladies - you will have the biggest headache trying to get something that heavy across the border. The duty will be 8%, GST will be 7%, brokerage will be about $50 and shipping will be at least $35. So, as for TJ's being $45US (415 vs. 369) over Marilyn, it sounds like a steal of a deal to me! By the way, I ended up returning the Boogie because the seat back was too short for DS and the stroller felt tippy with a 3-year old in it. I didn't lose a penny on the return either - if you buy a stroller in the US you will have to pay all the return postage yourself and then put in a claim for your duty (not fun, I have done it) and you will probably still be out the brokerage.

Please don't be offended that we aren't sending you links for US stores - most of us speak from experience when we try to talk you out of buying from the US. It is not about supporting the local economy as much as it is about protecting you from surprise charges (like that nasty brokerage fee which I got dinged with badly). That is why these forums are called Baby Bargains Boards - if you spend a fortune for something that could have been avoided, it doesn't sound like a bargain to me.

We're in Toronto. Our local distributor is of the most expensive. I have contacted other Ontario stores and then looked at the rest of Canada. I'm not jumping to buy from the US right off the bat.

I import fabrics (100s of yards at a time) a few times a month from the US and Europe and I have a brokerage system. I'm not offended that you want me to keep my $ in Canada, but sometimes, it is just not worth it and I am very well aware of importing fees and process. That is why I'm frustrated that I'm just wanting some URL's and I'm getting bombarded with warnings about a process that is already part of my job! I already posted "I just want a URL". Everything that needed to be said in that category has been covered. Perhaps a new thread should be started if you need to discuss this topic as it's irrelevent to my post as already explained in my last message.

It seems though that the Canadian price, plus tax and even shipping from another province will be more still than the price, plus duty and any shipping from the US. The exchange rate is so low right now.

Hence, my request for US stores that sell to Canada that people may have dealt with. The list on the Zooper website is quite long and going through every single US store URL will take more time than I have.

Hopefully this explains everything clearly.

Sorry if we are not answering your question, but we have no way of knowing if you are a person that knows all about import laws and fees. As for providing links, there are VERY few stores that ship to Canada for every one of the reasons we are discussing. I have not had much luck finding stores willing to ship because it messes up their business model. They offer free/low shipping in the US and then can provide high levels of customer service if there are warranty issues/complaints. Most stores (including the biggest ones in the US - i.e. Walmart, Gap, Target, etc.) will not ship to Canada because it is as much of a headache for them to process a return as it it for the average consumer to purchase the item in the first place. If all you want are URLs, you will not get very many responses. There are just not that many stores that sell these items to Canada. We have all just accepted this fact and shop domestically whenever possible or do our shopping when we are on vacation. I repeat it is NOT just about keeping the $$ in the country, it is about keeping the $$ in your wallet and keeping you from getting a headache. I have found that it is WAY easier to buy a stroller from a person in the US than from a store. I have bought 2 used strollers that were relatively hassle free.

Please do not be offended that we are discussing things that are not relevant to you. We have no way of knowing your specific situation. This is a public forum with lots of members. You will always get answers that may be relevant and may be irrelevant to your situation.

The links you received are probably the best ones you will get. If I had to deal with ANYONE in the US for a stroller it would be Marilyn hands down. She is wonderful and will strive to make you happy. I was not aware that she even shipped to Canada since I had long given up on US merchants.

I spoke to Marilyn at arunningstroller.com a while back regarding shipping a stroller to Canada. Her answer at that time was that she prefers NOT to. She's had bad experience with shipping to Canada. Something always go wrong.

I have bought 2 strollers on SWAP and they are both in as-described condition. Also, I was able to specify how I wanted the stroller shipped, which minimized the shipping/duty/brokerage/etc. charges.

The thought was to share experiences with shipping a stroller from the US and most of the time it's not worth it.
