I just wanted to warn you about a warranty problem I've encountered with Mountain Buggy.

If you purchase a Mountain Buggy (even from an authorized retailer) in the US but you live in Canada, you have NO warranty. MB USA will NOT honor their warranty if the stroller "resides" outside of the US. MB Canada says that the products are completely different in Canada and they won't warranty products purchased in the USA.

I'm pretty frustrated right now and hoping that I can resolve this issue by dealing with MB New Zealand.

FWIW, Peg Perego Canada will warranty Peg products purchased from an authorized retailer in the US. I don't know why MB won't do the same. Seems like a bit of a scam to get out of their warranty obligations.

Sigh.

I am sorry to hear this. But I thought MB dealers are not allow to sell to customers outside of the country because of the warranty issue. Did they know you are Canadian when you bought yours?

Yes, but I didn't have it shipped to Canada. I picked it up at a US address. I know many others on these boards have done the same thing.

I resolved the issue over the telephone with MB New Zealand. They were very helpful and pleasant. But, honestly, MB USA was just BRUTAL to deal with! And, I got the distinct impression that I'm not the first person from North America to phone the NZ head office and complain about MB USA's customer service (or lack thereof).

When my sister bought her MB last year (from the US, shipped to the US) it came with a fill-in warranty card. It never asked where she bought it, so she just filled it in and sent it to MB Canada.

Of course this hasn't been tested as she's never had a problem and therefore hasn't had to contact MB for anything.

The warranty card that comes with the '05s says to send it to the distributor in the country of purchase. I filled mine out on the US distributor's website. Silly me.

But, I did speak with MB Canada and they told me that they don't register MBs purchased in the US. They have completely different model/serial numbers, so they know that way what country they were purchased from. MB Canada and MB NZ claim that the US and Canadian strollers are completely different. I find that hard to believe....
