The region's health department and the Breastfeeding Coalition of York Region are hosting a breastfeeding challenge Saturday in Richmond Hill.
It's part of an international event and coincides with World Breastfeeding Week Oct. 1 to 7.
The international winner will be the site with the most children breastfeeding, as a percentage of the birth rate, at 11 a.m. Saturday. The region says the major goal of the day is to demonstrate support and encouragement for breastfeeding families in the region.
Breastfeeding mothers are invited to take part in the event, which starts at 10:30 a.m. at the region's south service centre, 50 High Tech Rd., at Yonge Street and Hwy. 7.
