Well, it's perhaps not the best deal but
this year we bought a fleece suit
from Mountain Equipment Co-op for
DD #1 that has turned out to be the best
$40 I've spent this winter.
We LOVE this thing! The fleece is nice and thick
but not too thick, it has built in mitts
and foot covers and the hood stays on all nice
and snug. It has 2 zippers down the front and is
cut a little narrower than most which is great
for the car seat (you don't want any xtra bulk there).
It also washes well.
I can't say about the the 6 month size but the 18 month
size that we bought fits my tall 27 month old...it looks like
they run big.
MEC dosen't have sales but when they change a style/colors
they clearance out the old so perhaps you'll be able to find a deal.

Here's the website and I hope that helps!

Well, this is what I hear from friends who are frequent shoppers
there anyhow...I hope that's right because my kids will be living
in these suits for the next few years! This is the only place
that I could find fleece suits in toddler sizes (up to 4T).

My DD was 36" on her birthday but has since had a growth spurt
so I'm not sure but I'd say definately close to 37" and
she weighs 30 lbs. It's funny, the MEC size chart says that the
18 month size will fit a 31" 24 lber...I'd say that's a bit off :) .

Anyhow...hope that helps!!!
Oh, and just in case it helps, I have a friend who has a fleece
suit for her DD by Columbia in the 24 month size and it is the same
size as mine from MEC but a little fuller in the body and legs...
better for a chubbier kid. It was $10 more than mine, is a little
thinner and only has one zipper. The color is nicer tho.
We have the blue suit and I find we are washing it an aweful lot.
But it was either that or orange/green...in hindsight, probably
should have gone w/the green :P just don't tell my DH ("won't the
blue show everything...you'll have to wash it all the time").
