I get the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) emails (highly informative, BTW). This is from yesterday.

HEALTH HAZARD ADVISORY - CONSUMERS CAUTIONED TO INSPECT POWDER INFANT FORMULA CANS

OTTAWA, August 18, 2006 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Mead Johnson Nutritionals are advising the public that some cans of Mead Johnson powder infant formula found at stores in the Windsor, Ontario area have been tampered with. One can has been found to contain what is believed to be a detergent.

A total of four suspect cans have been reported in the Windsor area.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the tampered material.

Consumers using powder infant formula products should look under the label to inspect the cans for signs of tampering.

CFIA is conducting an investigation of the suspected tampering and the case has been referred to the police.

Scary. Thanks for posting. I have a friend who uses formula (not sure if powdered, though) so I will pass it along.
