You all spotted DS1's carseat when it went on sale at TRU, so I'm hoping the same magic will work for a double stroller...

I need a double that's rated to carry some heavy kids - DS1 is 43lbs, DS2 (at 5 weeks) is probably 11 lbs. I'm hoping for something that is all-terrain, too, since we'll be doing a ton of walking, and it's got to be cheap! If it's a jogger, it's got to have a swivel wheel...

I'd love to get this one off of eBay http://cgi.ebay.ca/INSTEP-11-AR270-SAFARI-2-SWIVEL-DOUBLE-STROLLER-NEW_W0QQitemZ170052952178QQihZ007QQcategoryZ66701Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem, but duties and shipping are stupid...the same stroller is at Costco for $300, and Sears.ca for $320...

I've seen a Schwinn double jogger at Canadian Tire for $300.00. I seem to recall Schwinn and InStep are related somehow.

I am likely going to buy a double Chariot if I can get a good deal on one and it can hold heavy kids for sure!

I've been checking the Buy and Sell, but I so far no dice...

What is there to know about a double Chariot? Does it have a swivel wheel? That's pretty key for me, given how much trouble I've had with my back in the past year...

They are the same manufacturer, I think...

I didn't think to check Canadian Tire - thanks! I'll keep them in mind...

It bugs me that the same stroller across the border costs half as much. What is that about???

Chariots have different wheel packages.... You buy the chassis you want, then add one of: bike trailer, fixed jogging wheel, 2 small stroller wheels, x-country ski attachment.

They are GREAT.

You could also buy a stroller in the US and bring it here. I've done that lots. For a weekend, each person in the car gets $50 to bring across (so, you, your DH and each child = $200), for a week, each of you gets $700. We've never had a problem.

I rarely buy strollers here anymore, unless I find them on sale. When I resell them on Craigslist, I can usually get what I paid for them in US dollars.

For under $300, your options are pretty limited for doubles, BTW, even in US dollars.

Well, I went against my own plans and brought back a Phil and Ted's E3V2 from San Diego last night. We were there for vacation and the stroller just called to me. It has everything I was looking for and a good price on acessories that I wanted, plus the nice lady at Right Start took 10% off...

LOL, you know you NEED one if it "called" for you. It's a neat stroller, so enjoy!

I took my old Explorer to Calgary and Banff when the kids were little, so I know the P&T would work for you ;-)
