I am soooo upset whenever I see my DS's new, first haircut.
His hair was getting too long so I decided to get him a "first haircut"
Ladies at Gymboree recommanded "First Cut" at Fashion Island(CA). I've seen couple babies got very cut hair cut there and I decided that there will be the shop.
Got there and this lady, who didn't look too professional came and escort us to the sit.
From the beginning she was talking no-stop and looked very nervous.
Before the cut, I told her what I wanted. I wanted my DS's top hair to be long and side and back to be short.
She was constantly telling me what will look good...well, she didn't make any sense...
Started to cut DS's hair and of course he was crying like crazy.
She was talikng non stop..it was like mad house.
She finished cutting in less than 5 minutes and the result was...boy, my DS looks like army boy!!!! top, side, back hair is almost in one length!!! Exactly not I wanted. His beautiful top hair is all gone!!
I was so mad and she continues to talk "mom, are you okay, he looks georgious, blah, blah....I told her that I wanted his top hair to be little bit trimmed out and her response was "that's the longest I can do with the machine" Why can't she tell me that, why did she even ask me what I wanted in the first place!
Eventually his hair would grow again but I wanted his first hair cut to be special...Very cute...but it didn't happen. It would be his B-Day soon and I have scheduled his photoshoots but not sure with this hair do!

T.T;;;;;

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience. DS has gotten his hair cut 3 times there and each time they've done an excellent job but I agree, that it depends upon the hairdresser. If the hairdresser did not listen to you, you should complain to the management. Hopefully the next experience will be better for you - if not there, somewhere else.

Oh I'm so sorry. I would be so upset too if that happened to me on such a special occasion. I always see that shop and thought it looked cool. I guess I will have to be careful if I ever go there.

I am sorry. That is so frustrating.

We had one bad experience a few months ago. Normally we asked for (and recieved) as you said: longish on top, medium around the ears, short and clipped in back. But the hairdresser this time had other ideas. She barely touched the back, except to thin it enough so that it curled up, and cut the top and front super-short. Here, they have an acronyn to describe Forner kurz hinter lang (front short back long). He looked like a bad 80s rock star. It was horrible.

Good luck and just figure that in a few years time he'll get a haircut that will horrify you just as much...but it will be of his own choosing! :)

who did you go to?? do you know her/his name??
I've been to gymboree and the person who recommanded the store said the person who cut her DS's hair was excellent. Baby didn't even cry...His hair looks sooo cute and stylish.
I am not sure whether I will go there again but if I do, I will make an appointment with that person.

Right now my DS looks like he's wearing a wig!!! ^___^*** One all the way around! Well, his hair will grow...
I guess I learned my lesson. GET THE NAME OF GOOD ONE BEFORE I GO!!!
