I wait more than two years to buy new blinds for DD's room. When the brackets are finally installed, I measured incorrectly and they *don't* fit!! AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

Completely my fault but at least now DH will believe me when I tell him I need to recheck measurements and need help doing so.............

Oh no! I feel your pain. I would be SO mad at myself! Can the company do anything for you?

I was going to ask but we tried to "fix them" by cutting the headrail (but the slats are still too wide at the top) and DH was frustrated and just threw them so they're a bit mangled.

You think they'd sell me some new ones at a discount? Couldn't hurt to ask, I suppose.........

I'm just sick thinking I'll have to spend that much $$ on another set of blinds. There's a sheet up there now...... UUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

ETA: Thanks for the commisseration.

Oh how terrible!!! My sis can commiserate, she ordered blinds for her fancy new loft (three @ $400 a piece, ack!!) and they aren't wide enough, she was sooo pissed! They had a no exchange policy, and told you to measure and remeasure all over the website. My Dad felt awful since he was the one who did the measuring. They look ok up, though.

Hugs, that has to be soo frustrating! (My DH throws things too, what the heck right?? UGH!)

Can you install them OUTSIDE or on the frame? They probably are really too short that way, but with a sheer curtain over them, it wouldn't be too noticable that they probably leave a gap....

Or try and get them cut down. The blinds we bought at Home Depot are just standard sizes. There's a machine that cuts them down to the right length. Your blinds might be different though, these are just the 1.5" wide, white ones. (The slats have square edges, so are easy to cut down.)

What type of blinds? If they are wood blinds you can get them trimmed if they are too large. I just priced this out and it would cost me $40 per blind set to have them recut.

I have to do this when we get new windows installed. The blinds will be too small by 1/4". Now if the blinds are small and not large I suggest getting curtains. You probably wouldn't be able to tell w/curtains up.

I understand. My mom is in the blinds business (for another month) and all of the window treatments in my house have come from her. She did the measurements for most of them, so they are perfect, but I took the measurements for the blackout shades in my bedroom and I'm off by about 1/8" (too narrow).

The faux wood blinds at Home Depot are very reasonably priced and they can cut the width in the store and you adjust the length at home. They have a bit of "faux grain" which makes them look more wood-like. They are easy to install as well.

Too bad DH threw them out before you had a chance to look into recutting.
