Especially the one with the mom on the playground. So the moral of our story is: if you let your kid get pushed around and won't stand up for them, you'll feel better if you can drive a big truck.

I hate that whole attitude -- you're inadequate in some way, so you have a louder stereo or bigger tires or more expensive whatever. I thought it was more a guy thing (size does matter!!!) but maybe Hummer thinks women fall for it too.

Am I the only one who gets irritated? Maybe it's hormones, but I have to shut off the TV when I see this.

I haven't seen the commercials, but you are not the first to post about how awful they are.
It amazes me the commercials that air sometimes. What were they thinking?

What about the Volkswagen commercial in which a car full of people crashes? It is extremely violent and it irritates me.

no, you aren't. I didn't even get it the first time I saw it. DH had to "explain it" to me and I still don't really get it (which is stupid, since in theory, I'm their target market!!!)

Or what about the recent Mitsubishi commercial where the a girl strips down to her spandex shorts and bra in the elevator with a whole bunch of people in it so she can run out to the car and go moutainbike riding with her friend once the elevator door opens. For some reason, this commerical bothered me. I guess it's because it was soo unrealistic that it was ridiculous! Anyhow, the hummer commercial bothers me as well (and there is even a version for men - although I can't remember what it was about).

Congrats on your new little bundle Jodi!
I don't get them either, DH was confused as well. Bigger is not better, just more expensive and loud (usually). ;)

I absolutely hate car commercials. All of them. I hate how they play up the "this car will make you cooler, smarter, better, etc." line and I hate how they always show insanely unsafe driving.

The Hummer ones have been annoying me the most lately too, especially the playground one.

I couldn't have been happier when I heard that they were getting rid of the Hummer H1... now if they'd only just get rid of the entire line of Hummers!
I have noticed in the past several years thay I see a LOT less of them on the roads (if I ever see them, they are parked in a driveway likely not being driven).

I just don't understand why anyone would buy an automobile that only gets 10 miles to the gallon of gas with prices the way they are... and I also don't understand why anyone would want to drive something that could easily kill someone in a "fender bender." Sure you're safe in the car, but I've seen crashes in the papers with Hummers involved and the outcome for the other car (despite speed, severity of crash, etc...) is never pretty.

It just doesn't make sense.

Come on over to California and you'll see more Hummers than you can count! I think with the introduction of the H3 the suckers actually had a population boom around here. :(

I personally just plain hate Hummers!

It's an environmentally irresponsible over indulgence vehicle IMHO.

The people I know that drive them drive them because they think they are safer and could careless about the milage etc.. That just makes me nuts!

But then again... I'm a bit of a tree hugger. ;-)
