View Full Version : I hate toile

I've mentioned this before and don't be offended if you love the stuff. Everyone has different tastes and there are many people who would say that I have none, lol. But I'm bitching right now.....

Toile is FUGLY. It reminds me of an old, snobby lady. Not a cute little baby girl.

Babies can have really cute rooms without toile, fairies, butterflies, and stuff that looks like cotton candy.

I'm girlie. I like pink and shave my legs (for the most part). But stop with the freakin' toile.

I confess, I don't like it either. :o

I can't say I hate toile, but I honestly can't think of anywhere in my house that has toile. So I must subconsciously avoid it.

I seriously LOVE toile....especially the central park version.

And I am a "sport lily",,,and if I was going to be a spice girl i would be sporty spice.....

But I LOVE toile...I just think it is dainty. I don't like cotton candy or really "girlie" stuff....except for April Cornell. Gee, I miss her stuff!

LOL! you are too funny. i don't hate it. i like some of it. but i can totally understand why you are sick of it. some folks just get carried away!

but if i had a girl, she would have a toile dress at least.

Yeah, I don't know why I have such an adversion to toile. Actually, it kinda reminds me of Martha Stewart! But I love that crazy old bat.

The baby's room is painted a happy and soft shade of yellow. The crib and other furniture is cherry . Then there's green, blue, and pink stuff. Not very innovative but really cute. The women in my husband's family love toile. One of them has it all over her living room walls. I get all itchy every time I go over there. ;)

I'll be honest...I don't particularly "get" it.

What IS toile anyway? Where did it come from?

I want to know who sat down, drew that print and thought, "That looks AWESOME. I shall call it....TOILE!"

IMO it is preferable only to adult bags with childrens characters. No thank you, I'm in my 30s and prefer not to carry a Winnie the Pooh bag. Obviously just my opinion, others might be totally styling with theirs.

I love toile. It's been around forever and has a cozy feel.

I don't care for it on walls, but I do have a toile duvet cover. I guess I'm an old lady then cause I like it in moderation :) Or, I could just be trying to be trendy since it seems to be everywhere these days.

NO! You are not an old lady just because you like toile. That's just what it happens to remind me of.

I'm sure you are one sassy bunny. :)

I like toile, but I'd rather stick a hot poker in my eye than put it all over a wall.

OK, what about Vera Bradley bags? I cannot stand those things!

I like toile but really just the country stuff that has roosters on it. I have a thing for roosters. I agree that toile has definitely been overdone lately.

Hey, thanks girlie. Sometimes I wonder if I should edit myself a little more so as not to come off like a total doof. Then I decide it would be too much extra work. ;)

i always thought vera bradley bags were totally goofy, until the pink and green flowery one caught my eye...

sigh. i got sucked into the vortex. hands head in shame... i have a vera bradley bag...and i love it.

perhaps i will make myself a toile outfit to wear while toting it about.

(i made a toile outfit today for a 3 year old... i could make one for an adult... how scary would THAT be?)

I never liked VB bags but somehow I got hooked recently! They seem cheap compared to Coach which I usually go for!

A friend of mine did her nursery in it (red) and I was surprised, we live in a very high "clasic winnie the pooh" nurseries theme area and it was so different, but fit in beautifully with her house. Her son is now 2 or 3, I immagine he has a different room now!

I used to work for a company which had its "Paris" offices in Jouy-en-Josas. Toile is impossible to escape there.
