View Full Version : DiscountMagazinePublications.com sucks!

I ordered 6 magazines from www.discountmagazinepublications.com back in April. After around 3 months, 3-4 magazines showed up. I gave them a call regarding the other 2; they told me to wait. I've ordered last year's subscriptions from them, so this was a renewal.

Four months had passed. They told me to wait some more.

Five full months passed and I gave them another call, they told me that they no longer carried one of the magazines and will issue a refund.

I asked why it takes so long to inform me. If I didn't call, when will I be notified about the problem? The customer service basically told me that they have hundreds of clients to attend to regarding this problem and can't "give them a refund within one day". He said "you'll eventually get a email about this". Well, we're entering the 6th months after the order was placed!

During the whole conversation, the CS's attitude is that it's not their problem ("Four of your magazines started on time, right?"). Although he did say "I apologise", but he told me that if I'm not happy with their service, I should go somewhere else. When I find his attitude rude and ask to speak to his manager, he said "I'm the manager".

I intended to cancel all of my subscriptions from them, due to the poor customer service. However, some of the magazines had started, so he won't let me cancel them. At the end he said "don't come back".

Well, I'm so glad that I don't have to go back and deal with them any more.

Sorry you had to deal with this! With that kind of poor CS, how do they stay in business? They certainly aren't getting any repeat business.

Terrible CS!!!
Well at least you got someone on the phone. I've been calling the Delta Publishing group for weeks and never gotten a human on the phone, nor a call back. So, I got scammed out of $40 bucks for DH's entertainment weekly renewal. Avoid Deltamagazies.com too!!!

Yes, their CS is horrible! Thanks for letting me vent :) I just hope they will refund my money ASAP, cause it will be hell to deal with them again. They told me that DH's magazine will start soon and I hope that's true. He has been nagging me about his magazine for almost 4 months. What a nightmare!

Christy, I hope you get your money back. There should be something we can do about online stores like these.

Thank you for letting us know about their horrible CS. I've had a somewhat similar experience with another magazine discounter, it took 4 or 5 months for the magazine to arrive to our house and quite a few phone calls from me. After about 1.5-2 months DH got fed up of waiting and blamed me for my cheapness for going through the discounter and started buying his favorite magazine from a grocery store. At the end it cost us more. Last time I had to order some magazines I went through Amazon and was very happy about the process. I even give subscriptions through them to my friends.

Hope your DH will start receiving his magazine sometime really soon.

Elena, thanks for letting me know about Amazon. I think I'm going to try it for next year's subscriptions :)

I had to laugh about what your DH did :) Although mine didn't say anything about me being cheap, he asks me "when is my magazine coming" everyday! He whins so much that I had to ask him to shut up. He finally decided to go to the book store and buy the magazine. When he found out they only carry the current month (duh!), he was pissed. It's the only thing he reads that's not related to his work, LOL. Oh, the magazine is Model Airplane News.

You are welcome, Kate. You or your DH might want to check with your library, they might have the previous months issues. I know ours had quite a few to choose from, I've checked some photography, travel and architechture magazines but honestly do not remember seeing Model Airplane News, not that I was looking for it. And our library (in California) also had access to a few magazines and newspapers databases online. Some you could access from home with your library card number and password, some you could only browse from the library. I think those are more likely to contain your DH favorite magazine articles. I've managed to find some pretty obscure stuff there. HTH!

Thanks again, Elena! I'll let DH know that he should take DD and DS to the library, because he can look for the past issues while he is there :D Not sure if he will fall for that, but it's worth a try!
