I took the film to be developed and it was completely blank as I expected. So I did lose all the pictures of Evelyn. The good news is that the pics from the disposable came out not horrible so at least I have some pictures of that. Even with dd being uncooperative I got a couple of shots, although none of them together. AND my MIL had this shot of Evelyn from when she came to visit last week. I'm so glad she bugged me into putting them into their costumes.

My mom dropped my camera, not only exposing all the film and ruining a bunch of irreplacable pics of Evelyn's forst few weeks (including her first bath), but the Halloween shots of the two of them together that it took me FOREVER to take.

And now the camera is broken.

WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'm so sorry. I would be devestated. I hope your mom offered to buy you a new camera at least. I have no idea if there is any way to save the pictures, but I would put the film in a dark place and then look into it.

That's SOO disappointing. I remember accidentally deleting my first bath picture of Joshua--in a total sleep-deprived stupor.

Are you SURE the whole roll is exposed? When I've accidentally opened a camera with film in it, I've typically only lost the 2-3 pictures that were taken the most recently.

That's aweful. Take the film in and see if any of the pictures can be saved.

Alicia,

That totally sucks. But, I agree with everyone. Take the roll in and get it developed. I've exposed several rolls of film before, and usuallly only one or two pics are ruined.

Maybe your mom will buy you a new digital camera for Christmas ;-).

OMG. I'd be freaking out! It's hard 'cause you wanna be really, really mad but it's not like she did on purpose so you're prolly just standing there like you want to pull your hair out.

Big hugs. And I agree with everbody else, take it in and see what you can salvage. Here's hoping there are a lot of pics that made it!!

Exactly. Plus she has RA so that might have contributed. I actually almost started to cry and she ran to the drugstore and got a disposable camera, not understanding why I was so upset.
But what can I do? I tried to take the best pics I could with the disposable even though dd was uncooperative and I just enjoyed the rest of the day with my girls, visited with my mom, etc. Now I just have to find a way to scrape some money together for a cheap-o camera to tide me over until Christmas so my second daughter has SOME baby pictures at least. Poor Evelyn.

repeat: it's just a camera, it's just a camera, it's just a camera...

Thanks for the sympathy, everyone. Whine over (mostly).

I'm sorry. But ITA with everyone else. Close it right back up and take it to a photo lab (professional), perhaps there are some salvageable shots.

And then, my friend, GO DIGITAL!

Alicia-
I'm sooo sorry this happened to you! I agree with everyone else.

Is there anyone you can borrow a camera from? (I can look around and see if I have one) I'd hate for you to be sad about missing good shots.

Just think- Christmas is only 55 days away... GO DIGITAL!!!

Talk to you later!

I am so sorry about your pictures!!
I would have been so upset!!

Having said that, ITA with PP:

PLEASE go digital! It's amazing and you'll never look back.

You already have the computer.
There are some pretty decent digital cameras out there for not so much money anymore, and just think of the money you'll save on film development!! That's one of the reasons I went digital: it's cheaper and you get better pix.

ETA: For some examples of good inexpensive digital cameras, scroll down to the entry level cameras on this page:

I have a basic Cannon (film) that I haven't touched since we bought our digital 3 or 4 years ago. It's not fancy, but it's yours if you want it. I'd have to pull it out to see what exactly it has...can't remember if there is zoom or not...

Let me know!
