I am having a ton of problems with a girl that i am working with. I am working at a preschool after-school program, 5 days a week. I "supervise" two other people, basically just make sure that the kids are safe, fed, picked up by appropriate people. A week after the job started one of the people who i was supposed to work with quit for personal reasons. My boss moved another girl into my group to help me out. This girl is older than i am and has more education, but alot less experience with children. From day one this girl has had a negative attitude. I think part of the reason is that i am technically "supervising" her, and part is that it is her personality.

For example: Every day we have the same basic schedule, outside time, inside for snack, play inside, then leave to the pick up area. Every day she comes inside with the kids and just sits down. I have to tell her, please give the kids a paper towel or cookies or whatever. Can't she figure it out after 3 months? Is it really so difficult?

I have spoken to her and my boss about it, both seperately and together, and nothing has helped or gotten better. I know that this is silly compared to other peoples problems but i do not want to work with her anymore. She is litterally just a body sitting there, i can not rely on her for anything.

Thanks for listening for my vent, i feel a little better.

I also supervise staff in an educational setting.

There could be lots of reasons why she isn't doing her job, most likely a combination of laziness and resentment. I was shocked when I became a supervisor how my well-educated, well -trained staff had to be nagged and prodded to actually do what they were trained and hired for.

Anyway, I so feel your pain. I am counting the days until I get out of this and go back to regular teaching! I never want to be a supervisor again!

That stinks. I'm sorry. And more importantly: Avi looks so cute in your new photo! He's grown a lot since the last one I saw.

Thanks for the support, and the compliments on the picture! Yes avi is so big, and is so stubborn. Yesterday i was trying to get him to sit back so that i could buckle him into his carseat but he just wanted to give me hugs and say "i love you" it was so cute.

This girl was even more annoying today. We were inside having snack. So about 15 kids and three "teachers". Another teacher at the school knocks on the door and says that she needs to speak to the woman working in my class. The woman walks out without saying to me, is is ok if i leave, i am going to speak to her for 5 minutes, she doesnt say a thing, just walks out. So about 10 minutes later i say to the other teacher, i wonder why she has been outside for 10 minutes. He shrugs and we go on. A few minutes later she comes back all cheery. I left to get something and when i walk back in she starts to say that she had to talk to the girl and that i should not be "gossiping" behind her back. I said that all i said was i wonder what she was doing, i did not say anything else. She got very mean and defensive and defends what she has just done, which was leave the classroom for 15 minutes. I calmly stated that if she had told me before that it was an emergency or that she needed to talk to her for 10 minutes it is fine, i just had no idea what she was doing.

UGH, i seriously can not take this anymore, either she needs to work elsewhere or i am going to work somewhere else. I do not need this job enough to work with this idiot.
