So, I didn't know what to get for some of my close neighbors - 3 houses. Yesterday, the Cushman's Fruit Catalog Arrived and I had a great idea! Oranges from Florida! I love love love receiving them and the cushman's catalog had a free shipping code with purchase over $50. So, I ordered a box of oranges for each house at $19.99 each with free shipping! Got one for myself as well, cause I'm pretty sure no one is sending me one this year.

So, I was pretty pleased with myself as Cushman's oranges and honeybells are incredibly delicious and I saved almost $36 in shipping fees ($8.95 to each house). DH comes into the office and I told him what I got them. He goes, "Well, it's the thought that counts!" Ummm.... bite me. I thought it was a great gift.

What do you guys think?

Here's the positive spin on this: More oranges for you!!! Since he is being a scrooge, you get to keep all the oranges for yourself and he can have coal. ;)

And for the record, I'd love a box of yummy oranges.

I love Honeybells! I wish someone would send us some this year! Did you ask him what his idea was?

What a Scrooge! I'd love oranges this time of year, they are a traditional gift but so refreshing in the sea of chocolate and sweets.

I would like them too. Give him a lump of coal in his stocking, and oranges for you and your DC. :)

I send Cushman's to family every year for the past 8 years. We live in Florida and our family lives in Indiana and Oregon. Every year I ask if they want me to send them fruit or something else and they always say "Oranges!"

They think its great that we send some Florida Sunshine every year.

That's an awesome gift! I love getting citrus at Xmas - I used to live in Vero Beach, FL - home of Indian River Groves, and it makes me all nostalgic when I get a box of oranges. I agree with the PP's, DH should get a lump of coal.

Thanks! i told DH he hurt my feelings with that comment and he said I took it too negatively. He meant that they should be grateful they are getting anything. Ummm... it's still very negative. I am going for the "Thanks! That was so delicious!!!" reaction.
