They make heavily orchestrated, overproduced elevator music.

For some reason it always makes me think of Fabio. Oh I hate that stuff, it makes me feel jittery!

Oh, Susan - I am WITH you, Sister! Ever since Rush raved about them, my mom listens to that carp all season long. Yeesh...

Okay, I agree that most of their stuff is too much. But, I LOVE "The Holly and the Ivy." In fact the first year I heard it, I wrote it down for my students to play because I don't think it was in print yet for school orchestras. It's one of their few understated pieces.

I don't know exactly--I think it is the ultra cheesy, overdone quality they both have. For some reason my mind links them together!

Sing it, sister!

My FIL is a big fan, so every xmas, he busts out his multiple albums (why he has more than one when they all sound the same, I don't know) and puts them in his cd rotation (along with his beach boys xmas album, trans-siberian orchestra, etc.). At least now that DH's parents are divorced, we don't have to listen to it the ENTIRE time we're visiting, just when we're visiting FIL.

Oh, I don't like them either. Our band director had one of their pieces in the lineup for our holiday concert, but our program was too long so he pulled a couple - including that one. I was so happy to hand that one back in! The rest of the french horn section was very upset about it, which I can't understand since all we did was play the off-beats...

Then again, for some odd reason, these same horn players like to play Stars and Stripes Forever and Sleigh Ride, which are also the worst. horn parts. ever. Go figure.

Sarah :)

From one horn player to another - I hated playing marches! Egad, those were unbearable.
