DH bought some Easter-themed decorations at the 1/2 price sale at the garden center. We do an annual Easter Egg Hunt and he thought they would be nice to have. Mmmmm not quite my taste and not cheap and unfortunately my face showed it...he stormed off to return them. Sigh...I didn't mean to upset him, and he was trying to help out but I'm not his mother who always has decorations out for the season/holiday. How do I dig myself out of this one???

I know how you feel. At least he tried & then had to feel your disappointment.
How do we balance criticism vs. assertiveness/ our own preferences? This is a big one for me.

I'm still wondering about why DH got me a gigantic Disney-themed snowglobe for our first anniversary. Yes, it was Cinderella and Prince Charming, but it was also about a foot tall, and a foot wide. Where do you put such a thing?

It's been 5 years, and I'm still digging myself out of that one...

Now I focus on the present aspect of gifts...no matter what weird thing it is, he brought me something he thought I'd like, right? :P
