View Full Version : Thieving Service Worker...

I got a pedi for Mother's Day. I gave the lady a 20% tip on my receipt and left. When I get home DH asks me for the balance and I tell him. When he checked it, I'd been over charged by $1. Not much, right? Well, it is to me when you factor in the principle of the worker saying to herself, "That woman won't come back for $1."

I'd love to give her the benefit of the doubt but the fact is that every time I've gotten a pedi in the last year, they've tried to screw me out of $$, be 1 or 5.

Today, I finally got to the mall to dispute it. A different worker looked at my receipt and gave me the $ without a thought. That just screams "guilty" to me. I can just imagine what their odds of keeping money that's not theirs is because people say "oh, it's just a dollar".

Really ticks me and, on second thought, I wish I'd thought to take my tip back. Stealing from me is not what I call good service. I won't be going back there again.

That is ridiculous. What a way for them to make money. I cant belive how low some ppl are. Good for you for going and getting your $$$ back and even better for never giving them your business again.

I had that issue with a Thai restaurant and always adding $1-2 on our tip, which was 17-20% to begin with. I finally went in there and talked to the owner, and she claimed it was something with their machine and didn't even give any $ back.

OMG. That something was their grubby little fingers!! What a crock...

I hope you don't go there anymore. I don't think I'll be leaving anywhere that runs my debit card without a final receipt anymore. Good thing I do it very rarely anymore.

I hear ya! I was up in Maine for vacation last week and took my MIL for a pedi and I had a mani/pedi. I always get flowers on my ring fingers and big toes because my son goes nuts for them. LOL Anyway, our bill came to $89 (!!! In Maine boondocks !!!), including tip. My husband just did the checkbook online today and asked me why it was so much. I had to apologize because they charged me $5 for each nail that got nail art. I NEVER pay that much here. Plus they didn't do it right .... I wanted an ALL white flower for each big toe and ring finger (I had a French manicure). What did I wind up with? A white flower with green vines, black center, blue outline of the white flower and silver stuck in there somewhere. So, what was my point? LOL They charged me $90 (instead of $89) ..... TWICE!!!

I'm so glad you went back!! And I agree ... the way they handled it when you did go back reeks of guilt. I will never go back to this place again.

All of these buinesses should be reported, in writing, to the Office of Attorney General in their states. There should be a Consumer Protection or Fraud Prevention unit. I definitely agree with never going back to such places, but we owe it to each other to do our part to stop them from cheating others, too. And chances are good that any place ripping people off in this way is cheating on their taxes, too, so, yeah, they really could get into big trouble. Well earned trouble!

Check your state's website for the info on how to file a complaint in your state. It isn't usually a complicated process. And don't these creeeps deserve it?

i use to never check my receipts.. i have changed recently. i count my change and everything now. i have been screwed to many times. last night we were out to eat and the waitress brought the change to the table beside us. she short changed him on the money return. who's to say she wasn't pocketing that extra money. maybe she deserved it maybe she didn't but it is only proper to be accurate.

sorry for your inconvenience.

When money is essentially stolen from you, it feels awful, even if it is "only" a dollar.
