Now, I just can't see how this is possible, but I keep hearing two distinct "BAHHHHHH"s over the fence. I can't see through the fence, but I can't imagine what it could be. We don't have big yards and don't exactly live on farmland here! Of course, our bedroom is right in the back of the house so I can hear it in my room!!!!! It can't really be sheep, right?

rotflmao!!! If it's wasn't so funny I'd be shocked. Seriously-depending on where you live there may be laws for livestock. In st.louis city you can have up to 3 chickens. Guess what the guy at the end of our block has? 2 chickens and a rooster.

Haha I hope we have laws. I just swear it can't be livestock! You must love having a rooster down the block! Who needs an alarm clock?

In many cities you can keep chickens but NOT roosters. :)

Maybe they just got a new mattress, and now the counting sheep have been excessed to the backyard while awaiting transfer across the country?

If there actually ARE sheep growing in the backyard, I have no advice.

Except perhaps to take up knitting.

I have friends with a goat and several chickens. In a very close in burb. Very close in, not at all in the tiniest bit rural. I have to say, I have to admit I love the eggs!

The first thing that comes to mind for me is some sort of loud barnyard themed children's toy. :P Do they have kids perchance?

****Rocking out while parenting my smart little munchkin Toby. Just trying to do good in the world, a little at a time. Words to live by: it is *never* the wrong time to do the right thing :)

It is probably frogs! We had some that sounded EXACTLY like sheep! I actually took a chair out to our back yard and was looking over the neighbor's fences looking for the sheep I just KNEW they had! Dh about died laughing at me :D

Well, if they're going to have something, sheep are the thing to have. Essentially non-stinky (unlike pigs), easy to clean up after (unlike cows), easy to take care of (unlike horses), and not likely to run away (unlike goats).

Plus they keep the grass neatly trimmed...

I think you could be right! We have lots of frogs. I never thought they would sound like sheep, but it makes sense! Haha luckily I didn't get a chance to mention it to DH yet. He would probably be dying laughing at me!

All EXCELLENT points.
I keep asking for a pony, but DH is having none of it.
Come on. All a girl really needs in this life is a pony, a disco ball, and some really kickin' leopard print stillettos.
Am I right, or am I right?

ETA: I forgot about the pink mirabu boa.

And they make WOOL!!!

I've been asking for an alpaca, but DH says no. :(

My inlaws have neighbors that brought a goat home and kept it in their backyard. We *thought* it was just to eat weeds, but they ended up killing it the day before Christmas and cooking it. And no, they don't live in a farming community, just a very busy almost urban area of San Diego.
