Let me start by saying that I think the idea of the DADDY pictures is adorable. This was our third year of taking the pictures. The first year was a bit tough. DS was only 7 mos. old and couldn't sit up yet. Grandma's hand was in many of the pictures as we tried to keep DS from toppling over. Last year DS was 1 1/2 and had recently been diagnosed with delayed receptive speech (aka not listening to Mama). Most of last year's pics were of DS running in the grass with one of the DADDY letters thrown next to him. This year, however, really took the cake. I knew Father's Day was coming. I already had the letters from the previous years. I have no logical explanation for waiting until the last minute. We left the house at 6:50 this morning to try and avoid the heat (it was 111 here yesterday). We headed to our community park where there is a little lake and lots of grass. Here's what we got:

First, we lost the Y

The D was next

The A also went for a swim, but I was able to retrieve that one. I ended up driving home, borrowing a neighbor's pool net, heading back to the park, and fishing my letters out of the lake.

Next year he's getting a tie!

I know this is in the BP, but those photos are just so funny, they really made me laugh! You know how some DVDs come with an outtake or blooper reel...maybe you could do the same with these pics!

Oy... I'm taking the pictures tomorrow morning... top that. And I still don't have his outfit picked out... and he's 18 months old.

My girls ripped my homemade letters apart and had a giggle fest bopping each other in the head.

That's what I took pictures of.

It's real, it's our girls, and my dh will love it.

I think your pictures are great.

Those are ADORABLE!!! I know it was a PITA for you and not exactly how you pictured them turning out in your mind, but what a memory for you and DH! I planned to take mine today as well, but the boys were totally uncooperative even before we got outside to take the pics so I'll try again tomorrow:7 Maybe your DS is just really advanced and was testing the boyuancy(sp?) of the letters! I think you should go ahead and use these, maybe with a fish-themed frame? I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my DS's don't throw the letters on the ground and stomp on them!

The best laid plans..........

Oh, that Y is great. I'm so jealous. I'd use that in a heartbeat.

I couldn't find any 5-opening frames so I just went with D-A-D. Then yesterday, after I take all the pictures, I find not only a large 5-opening frame but a small-hinged 5-opening frame. Arghh!!!

Bitch away but those are awesome! I'm sure your DH will love and laugh about them. That's two gifts in one. :)

FWIW, my DS was pretty uncooperative. You'd have thought I had porcupines under our backdrop. Every time I sat him on it, he started complaining/whining/being *unhappy*. DD did pretty good both times I've done it but I had her contained at 13M and this year she was excited about taking pics for her daddy.

Sorry yours didnt' turn out how you wanted. :(

OMG, that is so freakin' funny! I know, I know, it must have been horribly frustrating, and I'm sorry. But those pictures are hysterical!

I love the Y too. That is so cute. I know it's probably hard to see it from your standpoint. This year I didn't even bother doing the DADDY pictures. I thought about it, and they did turn out cute last year, but I probably have about 100 pictures that I sorted through to find enough to work! The letters are mostly sitting by DS as he wanders off...I understand! But as the PPs said, that's your DS and priceless!

Trust me, this was very much a light-hearted b*tch! :) As much as I was yelling "Noooooooooooo!" as the letters took their dives, I was laughing too. I'm sure the gentlemen who were at the lake trying to fish in the serenity of the early morning REALLY appreciated us! I'm also sure the sight of me walking with a 16 foot long pool net toward our community lake caused more than one early morning walker at the park to pause and think, "What the @%#$%&* is she doing????"

I brought the pics to Bunco last night and we all had a good laugh over them. Having a two year old, I've learned to put some of my perfectionistic tendencies aside and roll with it. This is just life with Reeve, but I swear, next year, the man is getting a tie!

I'm with you on that one! And the picture of the D? I was thinking, "Too bad the D didn't turn a little more so that you could really see it and then use it as one of the pix."

Great pictures. Glad to see you are still smiling :-). After the first year, I swore I wasn't going to do them again either. But of course, I tried to do them. At least this year, I didn't lose it when she kept throwing them down the slide.

I never in a million years would have gone near a body of water ;-). You're my hero :-).
