People say stuff like that to me too occasionally. I look at them like they are insane; then say in a voice that sounds like are you too stupid to breathe without an instruction manual. "No sweetie I am just fat!" Then I laugh and give them the look of pity they are so dumb. It usually makes them feel very stupid and turns their meaness back at them.

Oh my. What on earth was this clueless woman thinking? Hold on while I pick my jaw up off the floor. That is unreal. I'm so sorry.

If it makes you feel any better, I was in my bedroom getting dressed yesterday and my middle ds grabs a little roll on my back/side and says, "What's that?" Then looks at his own little body and says, "How come my skin doesn't flump down like that?"

Sigh.

I NEVER ask, even if it's a close friend, unless they are about to POP. Even then, I probably wouldn't say something, just in case. I once (a long time ago when I had a LOT of baby fat) overheard my friend's dh ask her if I was pg - dd was 2.5 at the time.
