GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

so i'm watching gilmore girls (this is my "me time", i watch GG while i do laundry folding or clean the living room--it's naptime for the kids) and DD decides to get up early from her nap. fine...whatever...so i keep watching even though she's up (maybe that's my mistake), and she's playing around the house. she comes in to talk to me and a commercial comes on ABC FAMILY for diddy's new fragrance and it's like soft-core PORN! it was DISGUSTING! i turned it quickly, but i felt like such a bad mom right then! how could i let something like that be on TV when my DD was in the vicinity? but i thought ABC family was a "safe" channel. UGH. i'm so irritated at their "family" title. family, my ARSE!

aww, that doesn't make you a bad mom! Sorry your GG got interrupted. I adore to fold clothes while watching TV too! :)

I noticed that ABC Family wasn't really a family channel last Christmas. I was over MILs house and it was on. I couldn't believe some of the stuff I saw in the time I was there. "Family" programming it definitely was not!

Megs, don't fret over the two seconds of commercial she saw. We can't protect our kids from everything...sigh :)

the same EXACT thing happened to me. I can't remember for sure the exact channel I was on, but it was one of the home improvement type shows and that SAME commercial came on. I could not believe it was allowed on that channel! My kiddos were in the room and I quickly changed it. I totally think it crossed the line and belongs no where near "innocent" shows - keep it on VHI, MTV, etc etc

Yup, I was finished with ABC Family channel when last year (I kid you not!) I was watching The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown with the kids and during the showing was an advertisement for the '30 Days of Halloween' shows that they are showing complete with images of blood running down the screen and clips of every scary movie that I've ever seen. Yup, we were done...actually, we no longer have cable.

Don't beat yourself up over it, it happens sometimes. We cut cable because of the cost we were paying for something we really weren't using.
