Bridal Building seamstresses

I visited the Bridal Building at 1385 Broadway yesterday (NYC) thinking I was going to be seeing gowns in a showroom. Instead, I had an appointment with a seamstress who told me she could basically make whatever gown I would like, showed me a bunch of photos of her work, etc. I can't find any Better Business Bureau listings for her (business card says both Couture by Karen/Carina's Secrets) and I'm curious if anyone has had any experiences getting dresses custom-made there.

Second, if not, where can I check for reputable seamstresses in the NYC area?
