Of course loved the book but went by your advice on passing up the bassinet and putting the baby straight away into the crib. As luck would have it this was not the case when we brought the baby home and had to think quick about where to put her! Luckily we had a pack n play w/ bassinet inset and that worked for a few weeks. Please go into more detail on bassinets and playpens w/ bassinet insets because I'll bet more than half of us wind up using them. I saw bassinets for around $50 at Babies r Us, which is not a big deal, but by then felt I had already invested too much in playpens. Also, nix the playpens w/ the 1/2 width bassinet because it is too small. Go for the full width size bassinet.
