With all the hype and hoopla over a baby's first birthday, surely there are some "preferred" gifts. . . aren't there?! Help!

I've got two months to come up with something. My original theory was something along the lines of let's have a party and cake and since he will be too young anyway, just a couple of toys and stuff. My mistake was mentioning that idea to other people. NO, they insist, it must be SPECTACULAR!

Frankly, I'm too tired to think of my own SPECTACULAR. One friend suggested the Intelli-Table by Ray-o-vac. Any feedback on that one? Any other ideas? (Besides a big screen TV and a side-by-side washer and dryer--ha ha)

Thanks a bunch!

Have you seen that commercial where the parents buy a big screen tv for their 1 year old son's birthday? I don't really think that it is a bad idea! (haha)

I think good 1st birthday presents are: board books like "Pat the Bunny" and "Brown bear, Brown bear", or a small wagon to haul toys in around the house, or to get a ride in.
