Travel to NYC - Carseat in taxi??

my dd is three months old now. we will be travelling up to nyc this weekend. what is the policy for use of carseats in taxis?? are they allowed/required?? any suggestions to make for safe, convenient travels within the city??

It is always safeast to use a carseat, esp in an NYC taxi- they are the *craziest* of NYC drivers, and that is saying a lot!!! :-)
I am not sure as to exactly what the law is, I actually think legally one does not need to use a carseat, but I would use one anyways. It would probably be easiest to take your infant seat and a snap n go or Kolkraft universal carrier type thing and use that for the trip. That would be my suggestion...let me know if you have any more specific Q's!!! Enjoy NYC!

I believe that this has been discussed on the car seat board - if I remember, car seats are required in taxis up to one year of age. Personally, I don't care - I wouldn't put my baby in a taxi without a car seat!
