I am so frustrated with this! We have recently set up a family website, and I wanted to use one of the photos for an avatar image. I have tried everything, what is the deal?
If anyone could give me advice I would appreciate it.
Please help:)

If you are using Internet explorer. Go to the image you want to link and right click. Go down to properties and you will see the location of you picture.

It will usually end in .jpg or .gif. (Though the string may be too long for you to see)

Highlight that and right click and go down to copy.

Come over to your User profile/Control panel here and go to avatar and right click and hit paste.

Right now yours is

http://www.myfamily.com/exec/c/content/f/viewproperty/siteid/lIUKAQ/contentclass/PICT/contentid/ZZZZZZZI

There is no .jpg/.gif at the end so nothing is going to display.

Eek! I still can't see her! Did you cut and paste the web address or type it in? For some reason, mine only worked when I cut and pasted.

I cut and pasted. I can see it on my posts, but I think I need to resize the picture because it looks a bit cartoonish!
I wonder why I can see it but everyone else can't? This is way to complicated, or maybe its a "user problem":)

Nope that link for some reason is too long.

I get a link too long for my browser to look for.

I know it can be frustrating. I'm experimenting now to see if I can figure it out. I don't have many images which are small enough either. The page I built only gives photo options of 130 pixels and up. I'm about ready to give up as well. :) Let's see if this works... Last try.

Thanks, but right now I'm just trying to learn to do it myself. We just got the camera for Christmas and so far all my pictures come out huge..in the MB range instead of KB range. I'm in no particular hurry per se because Benjamin isn't expected for a nother seven weeks. I'm just trying to be prepared. :)

What image viewer/editor are you using?

I just loaded Web Photo Manager. It seems to be easier than the other ones I have been using.

You might try out Ifranview. http://www.irfanview.com/

Lots of folks use it at another board I am on for image resizing etc.

I believe it is freeware.
