View Full Version : I "think" I'm in labor...

What I think are contractions started around 7pm Monday night. Stayed about 45 minutes apart. They now seem to be anywhere from 15-25 minutes apart pretty regularly. I'm planning to stay home until they're probably 5 minutes apart. I hope this is the real thing and not a fake out...I guess I won't know for a little while!

It's 1:48am here, and I just had a shower (which felt great) and am just getting myself a little prepared, eating something, etc.

Anyway, will update before I head to the hospital, but I think this is it, and only 3 days after my due date :)

Do eat something and go back to bed if you can. You'll need all the energy you can get for labor. Also, don't just go by the clock. Stay at home as long as you can but if you feel like it's time to go to the hospital and the contractions aren't yet 5 minutes apart, just go!

Yeah! Hope the Hypnobirth techniques really help! Do try to sleep if you can. You will definitely need it!

YAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!! Rest rest rest! Call if you need someone to talk to before your doula gets there. As one of my dear friends said to me, may your birth be a reflection of all your power and strength as a woman. Focus on the prize you're about to get. We will all be pulling for you today!

Hey everyone. I've been actually sleeping pretty good all night and Brandie is now taking me to the midwife (I had an appt anyway) to check me. I guess if all is progressing well then we'll head to the hospital, otherwise we'll come home for a while. Still not sure if they're regular or not, but I'd say they're probably still close to 20 minutes apart. Will update when I get home from the midwife (I assume I'll be coming home). Labor is confusing.

I'm so happy for you Tammy!

Just one thing though, don't feel obligated to give us details ASAP. Wait until YOU are ready! You are going through a wonderful but arduous event and you need to make sure YOU are okay before you worry about getting to a computer.

Of course we DO want details, but we will understand if it takes a day or two (or a few) to give them to us.

Good luck! We're pulling (uh, pushing) for you! :-)

My midwife said I'm 2 cms and 75% to almost fully effaced. She said it could be a while - like even as last as Friday, or as early as today?

Anyway, am planning on walking around to get things moving.

Tammy,

We had DR's appts and vet appts today, and our first day without Stve so I am just now on the boards and just now seeing this...though sent you labor vibes in an email!!!

I swear I want to jump on a plane and head to SD to cheer you on and support you...do you think Tristan can fly 2 weeks after birth. Darn I wish I was closer to you. Please know that you have a "fan club" out here in Raleigh and we are cheering and praying for you and Lauren. I KNOW you will do super!!! And I know Lauren will do super as well!!! I had some of my favoirtie CDS and he was born to a lulliby CD playing if you have one you might want to take it too... If you need to talk email me and I'll call you!!!

We have a bottle of Champagne ready...and a bottle of formula to celebrate when we hear the great news!!!

Hugs your way girlie!!

Wonderful! A lot of times with first babies, you've got to get all the way effaced before you really start dilating. Two centimeters is a terrific start! We're all cheering you on!
