Today, Sarah walked all the way from our kitchen to the family room!! (Maybe 30' ft??) I almost cried I couldn't believe it.

She wasn't steady the whole time, but it was DEFINITELY walking. It's amazing how her walking has improved since Saturday's visit with the therapist. We have really been encourging her to walk and not been so quick to pick her up when she gets frustrated. And today she "really" walked, not falling steps! I guess she just needed a bit of extra encouragement and confidence building.

I am so elated! You don't know what a relief this is to me. Now we just need to conquer those darn lip sounds!

And she will be 19 months tomorrow! Just had to share!

Oh my gosh Beth that's amazing!!! What wonderful news. I'm so happy for you! And Sarah too--I'm sure she'll be thrilled when she discovers what she can do now! I bet that was so incredibly rewarding for you to watch her walk so far. And she did it while still 18 months too!:) Has she gotten a bit less frustated thoughout the week as she realized you weren't going to give in and pick her up as readily? Have you found any heavy toys for her to work with?

Again, I am so happy for you! Can't wait to hear more about Sarah's walking tours around your house!

How wonderful, Beth!!!! Sarah, way to go baby!!!
I'm so happy for you! I know how worried you were...as parents, all of us could sympathize and understand how frustrating this situation was for you. And I'm sure that Sarah will conquer the lip sounds just as easily as walking!!
I'm really, really excited for you!!!!!

Beth,
That is amazing!!!! I would have definitely shed some tears...you did good holding back! I know it is such a relief to you to see that she can do it. Now you're in trouble...she's got it figured out and you'll never slow her down again (after all this, I'm sure you wouldn't want to anyway!). :-) This is wonderful news...thanks for sharing!!

Whoohoo Sarah. Way to go.. We knew you could do it. Now if you could have a talk with Alexander Thor about walking I would really appreciate it. He is getting pretty darn heavy. We're all so proud of you.

WAY TO GO LITTLE SARAH!!!!!

I know that now you've begun no one will keep up...from your adorable looks keep it up because I suspect in about 15 years you'll have to run from all of the boys!!!

Way to go proud mommy!!! I'm sure what the therapist told you to do has helped get her going!!!

We're celebrating over here for you gals!!!

Woo hoo!!! Shoot, it almost made me cry! You've so been in my thoughts this week. Sarah sounds like a little perfectionist - didn't want to do it until she could do it all the way! When she starts talking, she'll probably start using complete sentences! (My brother started that way. And his IQ tests waaaay into the genius level.)

Congratulations!

I am sooooooo happy and relieved for you too, Beth! It was such a joy to see little Sarah showing off her new stuff at playgroup today. One little smiley expression I caught from her while she was strutting her new steps was "Hey, look at me!" I think that she felt really proud of herself (and she should!). I bet she's all over the place next time I see her. What a precious little girl. Time to get out the videocamera! :)

Thanks all! It's just amazing to me how quickly she progressed. We really struggled on Saturday and Sunday. She was SOOOO frustrated and it was so hard to watch. But starting Monday, it was like something clicked and she started egtting more bold. Yesterday, she was in the kitchen, heard the Wiggles come on in the family room and walked all the way to the TV!

And today she has continued to spend more and more time walking as opposed to crawling places.

And now it occurs to me, I need to go SHOE SHOPPING! YIPPEEE!! The only shoes we have are Robeez and we need "outside" shoes!!!

Yep, me too. Good for Sarah. I'm going to Stride Rite this weekend, and will be thinking of you guys. Let me know how you make out, because I KNOW I will have a fit of indecisiveness so bad that DH has refused to go with me!
