Hi Jamie,

What type of baby book ~ memory/keepsake book or a general baby care book?

MEMORY BOOKS: The "John Lennon" one is really cute and not to "baby-foofy"! It is a "3-ring binder"-style that has a nice layout. Unfortunately, I found that one too late. I settled for "Baby Chronicles" after A LOT of searching. "Baby Chronicles" is nice but not a binder style so you cannot put bulky things in there or add pages. It has a lot of "things" in there (Autograph page, more Baby's First's, more photo spaces, etc.) that I didn't see in the other books. The spaces for photos are for 2x3 photos though, which is kind of a nuisance, but at least it's in there. Overall it is a good book, but the binder thing was a huge drawback. Look at both books.

BABY CARE: I have "1st Year Week by Week" which is okay. I also have the Mayo Clinic book that I received for free from State Farm ~ not bad for being free. I hear that "What to Expect..." is a good book (my pediatrician recommended it) but their pregnancy version had me freaking out (made me feel way too guilty) so I was afraid to buy the "1st year" version. I have heard that the Sears' book is good if you are interested in attachment parenting and the family bed ~ it looked like a pretty thorough book!

HTH ~ Good luck! :-)

I wanted something that wasn't too themish/overdone. I did a lot of research on the internet and just ordered two of off Amazon.

Humble Bumbles Baby Journal
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1887169318/104-5680735-4055923

and

Baby Book: Baby's Record Keeper and Memory Box
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0880881658/104-5680735-4055923

I liked the first one because it is bound in such a way that you could add pages (or even remove ones you won't use). I liked the second one because it has a keepsake box. I decided to order both and then decide which one to use. They should be arriving this week.

Well, I remembered looking at mine (from my mom) and seeing how little of it was filled in, so I wanted something simple. I also wanted it not to be too cutsey for a little boy. By simple I mean that it wouldn't have too many places for tons of photos, since I know myself and that I wouldn't ever get all the photos in. So, I picked "Goodnight Moon" baby album (they have them at bn.com and Amazon, I think). It's small, primary colors mostly, and cute drawings. It does have little pockets for locks of hair and places for the announcement. It also has lots of sections that family can fill out and about 5 pages for photos. It includes photo corners to put them in. The book itself is about 8x6".

It may not be as fancy as some, but I liked it.

I used one put out by the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I can't remember the name (and the book is safely inside the sleeping [!!] baby's room). The rhymes and illustrations are both classy and classic. There's a lot of incidentals at the beginning and less as time goes on which I like because I had a LOT more time at the beginning than now.

I'll try and dig up the name of the book tomorrow.

I wanted something sparse because I know I won't write a lot of stuff in it. Here is the one I got:

http://store.yahoo.com/kidsurplus/bk124.html

It's beautiful, and small with just the basics. No long "letter from mom" section or stuff like that, just the basic milestones and places for pics.

Hi, I am trying to choose a baby book. I am looking for a three-ring binder style book, but can't find the John Lennon book on the internet or in local stores. Does anyone know where I can find it? Thanks!

I just got the Molly West book and love it. I wasn't into characters or cartoons on my book, so it was perfect. It's an expensive book, but I found it on sale. I thought that babycenter.com had the best price on it until I found it on sale at the Janie and Jack stores. I got the pink one, but BabyCenter has a few different styles and Janie and Jack has the boy version on sale too.

I second the Molly West suggestion. You can also keep an eye out on eBay. I got a great Molly West photo album from eBay that retails for $100 for about $25 shipped. I've also seen baby books listed by various sellers...just search on Molly West

I have the scrapbook albums from Creative Memories. They have a nice album with refill pages, stickers and all kinds of neat things.
