Hi

I'm looking for a good 'baby care book'. Does anyone have a must have? (kinda like you must have the baby bargains book but one on general care, development, problems etc.)

Thanks all

The Baby Book by Dr. Sears is excellent, and quite comprehensive.

My favorite baby care book is "What to Expect the First Year". I also have "Your Baby from Birth to Age Three" by the American Academy of Pediatrics and it's OK too.

My other two "must have" books that I have turned to again and again are:

1) Ellyn Satter's "Child of Mine: Feeding with Love and Good Sense", which is all about feeding your baby from birth to school age

and

2) Burton White's "The First Three Years of Life". He's a child development expert and talks about the various developmental phases your child goes through and how to provide appropriate stimulation at those times.

Without a doubt the Dr. Sears Baby Book. He is putting out a new edition in a couple weeks. I think if you buy it off of his website, he will sign it for you too!

I also like "What to Expect the First Year" (not quite as preachy as their "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and it answers so many questions!) and also good is Penelope Leach's "Your Baby and Child."
