Soy Lecithin = Soy (allergy to soy)?

I just wanted to clarify, but I assume yes - soy lecithin is actually the same kind of soy that I've had to eliminate from my diet, correct?

I hear mixed reviews. My friend's soy-allergic baby does fine with soy lecithin, and her ped told her it was a different thing altogether. I'll see what I can find out.
