View Full Version : suggestions for phrasing on announcements?

Most of the suggested phrases are too cheesy or fairly boring. We may go with the standard "Shannon and Chip are pleased to announce the birth of ..." but would love something a little more poetic.

Anybody have any unique suggestions? Would also love a quotation to use but all the ones on babies, children, and birth that I've found are inappropriate.

Shannon,

Try going to the different announcement websites and looking at their samples - that's how we picked our phrase!

Shannon, we tried to incorporate the design of our announcement. I actually just attached the announcement in the birthday party idea thread, but since I feel so tech-savvy with my attachments, I'll do it again. :D

It was my idea, and not too original, nor lacking of cheesiness, but I thought it was cute. :D

Joanne, you are so funny!

Your announcements are so unique and very cute, not to mention lacking of cheese! Did you draw it yourself?

Tom's started out like this:

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our sweet little boy, Thomas Jack...

We did photo greeting cards on Shutterfly with a photo on the front and the wording on the inside. I wasn't on the ball like you, Shannon, and I didn't get them out until he was 8 weeks old!

I'm not sure if a religious announcement would be appropriate for you, but ours said:

God has blessed us with a son...

We used Naptime Productions and were very pleased. There are a number of suggested phrases there. http://www.naptimecards.com/home/

Popular Bible verses to use are:

Every good and perfect gift is from above... (James 1:17)
Behold, children are a gift of the Lord... (Psalm 127:3)

If you're looking for unique announcements as well as phrasing, Stork Avenue has some pretty unique stuff: http://www.storkavenue.com/category_ep/announcements.html?-session=stork:CECA82473041E5A7617B75B3EDAC6549

For example, "Cars and rockets, planes and trains, these are a few of my favorite things," "A sweet smile to brighten our day, a small hand to hold on the way" and "He's a wiggly, giggly bundle of fun...our huggable, loveable new baby son."

go to the below website. they give you suggestions on wording under the baby announcements. you could also go looking in baby stationary books too. they always have unique cards and wording in there.

We had the big sister do the announcing...

Adrienne would like to announce
the arrival of her new baby sister

Gabrielle Grace

was born May 11, 2002
at 2:16 am
weighing 8 pounds and
is 21 inches long.

For the world, when seen through a little girl’s eyes greatly resembles paradise.

I printed them myself on a fun speckled cardstock in a fun font and then rounded off the corners.

we had a November arrival and since it takes a few weeks to get it together enough to tackle the announcments, we went with a Christmas announcment/greeting.

The wording could actually be used throughout the year. It would be really cute on a card that has presents in the background. Here it goes:

The sweetest gifts
come in the smallest packages....

Sage Thomas

7 lbs, 19 inches

We used the following:

Ten little fingers
ten little toes
with love and grace
our family grows

The the usual name, weight, height and mom and dad and sisters names.

I may not get them out for a while! Have them picked out and half of them addressed but don't see them getting finished anytime soon.

We too had a November baby and went with a Christmas announcement:

"God's perfect gift of love, then... and now.

Announcing our new baby girl
and wishing you the blessings of Christmas love
all through the New Year!"

- baby info -

"May your holidays be as wonderful as ours!"

I printed them up on my computer and used a photo of her for the background. I got many, many compliments on them.
