OK I just got an email about a PENIS ENLARGER!!!

Of course I deleted it and emptied it without opening it up...this is why I never ever ever sign up with any mail order list and why I so hate to get jokes etc.. forwarded to me. I do have to say with all of my coorespondance with you gals I have never gotten any of those and thank you!!!!

BUT I did sign up with Baby Center the ONLY thing I have ever signed up with...Anyway wanted to forwarn folks if this is a virus...

Yeah- we've gotten some really trashy ones lately. We went into Microsoft Outlook, e-mail Tools/Wizard, and listed all the words embedded in the bodies of the e-mails, so that they are immediately deleted (not in the deleted box, but completely deleted). I was blushing just typing some of the words that are in those e-mails! And the ones with pictures?!--- I hope DS NEVER sees any pic (e-mail or IRL) like that!

I've been getting one of those a day for a while. It's driving me CRAZY! I know I need to look into some software for that, but just haven't taken the time! I do keep two different email accounts and use one for ordering online and one for personal correspondence, and I only get those ads on the ordering account. Maybe Babycenter is to blame...

LOL! You guys are too funny. I was getting the Penis enlarger and Viagra ads awhile ago, but I have not gotten any in awhile. The new ones I seem to get all seem to be for foreign mail order brides!!

But seriously, one thing folks may want to be aware of. If you write out your e-mail address in a message board, you are likely to get on lists like these. Unscrupulous folks write software to go to websites and search for e-mail addresses. So it always better to write your e-mail as:

myname @ mywebhost.com rather than [email protected]

I'm on a couple of yahoo groups and I've noticed a SIGNIFICANT increase in the number of rude (or is that um, helpful??) emails since joining yahoo. Between enlarging my penis, breasts, viagra without a prescription and hot young girls ads I get, my inbox ALWAYS has something in it. GRR!!

OH my gosh- my sweet DH decided last night to try and buy a single music track off the internet- against my recommendations to just go to a B&M store and buy one the old fashioned way. I've had lots of pop-up ad problems when trying to do the same thing. He comes into the living room 10 minutes later and says it was too much of a hassle- he'll just get one at the store.

So I come into the study to check e-mail, etc., and there are 8 new desktop icons, ranging from adult topics-news-sports-etc., our homepage has been changed (and takes 20 minutes to get back to the old one, b/c the programmer was a really tricky guy), and even still, there's a new toolbar occasionally when Internet Explorer opens (again, with the adult-news-sports-etc. options)....arrrggghhh!

I use a program call the Proxomitron that gets rid of all of these. It has a very high learning curve though. (However I figured it out and I am a middling newbie when it comes to software changes) But it is divine. :)
