We are thinking about going on a short trip to Hawaii and I was wondering if you can put a 6 month old baby in the ocean water?
My question is regarding the cleanliness of the water...

He has been in the pool already and loved it (with no adverse effects), but I wonder about ocean water.

Does anyone know?

I'd be more worried about the chlorine than the naturally occuring salt of the ocean. I'd say your biggest problem is going to be the water temperature.

I agree with water temperature being the main issue! We took Alia to my inlaws (SC) when she was 6 months old. She liked the sand, but it was November in SC, so the water was cold. We didn't even put her in, just touched her toes to the water and she pulled her legs up immediately :-)

Have fun! And remember to take lots of pics - Alia's expression was priceless when she felt the sand sift through her fingers!

I am happy to report that we are back from Hawaii.
We took DS to the beach as well as the pool and he loved it.
The water in the pool was heated, and the ocean was not too cold either. He wiggled his toes in the wet sand and laughed when the water would cover his legs...
