Just thought that question would make a good topic.

I can't remember exactly, but I think it was 5-6 weeks. My main delay was trying to take the perfect photo for the announcements and then trying to decide which photo was the perfect one.

3 weeks. I addressed them ahead of time then assembled with picture and out they went.

Mine were sent out the next day. I had prepared everything, given my parent's the preaddressed envelopes, the blank announcements, and the disk with the template. My dad filled in the vitals and printed them. They were the kind with a vellum overlay so my parents had to tape the two sheets together after printing, but they were very dilligent. People were shocked at how quickly we had them out. That's what 12 weeks of bedrest will do for you! Then at 10 weeks I sent out an update letter and a picture.

I had mine pre-ordered. I only had to call in the "stats" and they arrived about 10 days later. I addressed them during the late nights Sophie insisted her bedtime was no earlier than 2am. I guess they went out about three weeks after she was born.

With DS#1, I had them the day after I got home from the hospital, and they went out the next day (so 5 days). This time will take a little longer b/c I went through Naptime Productions (thanks for all the referrals- they've got such cute stuff!) and got ones with the picture- they'll be ordered as soon as we're home from the hospital (so I can ensure some good pics are available!), take a week or so to produce, and the envelopes are already pre-addressed and stamped again (did this last time and it was a big help, so I thought I'd do it again).

About 4-5 weeks. I didn't do anything ahead of time. I printed the pictures myself and underestimated how long it would take to cut out 120+ wallet photos (and to get motivated to do so!). We narrowed it down to 2 pics and couldn't decide, so we sent both.

I sent them within a week. I had the envelopes addressed ahead of time. A photographer came to the hospital to take the photograph and then created the announcements. He mailed them to me within the week and I began to stuff envelopes upon receipt. I loved the announcements and would totally use him again!

I *think* I had the envelopes ready ahead of time (if I didn't, I meant to). We had photo ones, so it took us a while to get up the energy to take the photos and then develop them (the place said digital didn't come out as well as regular film). Then Costco screwed them up so we had to wait another week. I think Ds was maybe 6 weeks old?

I think it was between 6-8 weeks? We gad a screw up with the shop where we ordered, so it took a little longer. We used mailing address labels and printed out all the mailing lables and had our return address printed on the envelopes so the addressing part went very quickly.

But I have RECEIVED announcements at 3-4 months after baby was born and I have also heard of people sending them as late as 5-6 months.

4 months, I must confess!

I hadn't even looked into them when Nathaniel was born and coping w/ new motherhood threw me off.

I'm right with Caroline - DS was almost four months old before ours got sent out. Honestly, it was the last thing on my mind when I got him home from the hospital! Unfortunately, my mother did not agree - she was calling on a weekly basis to see if they'd gone out yet!

I think she was about three weeks old when we mailed them. We went through a very intense nesting stage about a month before she was born, and addressed and stamped all the envelopes. We designed the announcement on our computer before she was born (didn't know she was a "she" at the time!), and then just plugged in her information. We did a mock one using our dog's stats before the baby arrived, just to see what it would look like! LOL!

I can trump that. I didn't send mine out until Lola was six months old. I incorporated my tardiness into the text of the announcement and got lots of compliments despite it. I was MUCH more prompt with thank you notes for gifts received before and after Lola's birth.

I think it might have been close to 2 months. I agonized over which design to pick for waaaaaaaaay too long. But, like Sarah, I was VERY quick with thank yous.

I sent them at about 3 or 4 weeks. I had already addressed the envelopes, so when I recieved them with her picture on them, I just stuffed them and out they went. We were lucky that one of the pictures we had taken the day she was born turned out great, and I did them online, so I just emailed the pic and had the finished thing about a week later.

I guess I forgot to respond. We sent (most of them) out just shy of three weeks. We have about 10 more to address from our wedding list and Ms. Flagger says my handwriting is too horrible otherwise I would have mailed the last ones out.

I guess I should also ask how many did you order or send out?

We ordered 75 and have sent out about 55.

Sometime during the first 3 months. I was so exhausted during that time that everything is a distant, hazy memory and that really makes me sad!
