and we're incharge of buying the onions and tomatoes for the burgers. In my baby haze (lol) I have no idea how much to buy for 140 burgers and 50 hotdogs. How many tomatoes and how many onions will we need?
Thanks,
Kim

Ms. Flagger says a dozen each.
Remember not everyone likes tomatoes or onions.
However onions have to be SLICED and DICED, maters just have to be sliced.

hmmm... my 2 cents:
I would say that you will get 4 good slices out of a tomatoe and 6 slices out of on onion.
Given that the tomatoes are large enough so that it doesn't take 3 slices to cover, then I would say that 35 would do. Some people will take a slice or two and some won't, so it should even out.
Onions, on the other hand, people take just a couple rings, instead of the whole slice. So, I would say that 20 should be more than enough. I would try to get 6 thin slices and use the two round ends to cut up small for the hot dogs.
Does that sound right?
Good Luck, and happy Picnic-ing!
