my ds is 11 weeks old and has been taking 5oz bottles consistantly for about a month... usually going every three hours during the day with one feed at night however, the last couple of days he has started streching to four hours during the day, on his own... do I up the amount to 6oz? how much should he eat each day?

Is he eating the entire 5 oz. bottle each time? My first clue to upping the ounces was when DS stared draining the bottle. I've read that ideally (even though it's a waste of breastmilk/formula)there should be a little milk left in the bottle each time so you know your child has eaten until satisfied. yes, you will waste some. That seems to be the nature of bottle feeding. I think at around 12 weeks my DS was eating around 6 oz or so (but I can't exactly remember).

Good Luck!
