With pg#1, I didn't have any feelings if I was going to have a boy or girl, but could only come up with boy names and painted the room blue (never could find out sex through ultrasound). With pg#2, was SURE I was having a girl, and had to stop self from telling ultrasound tech that she was wrong when she said baby was a boy! She wasn't...

My nausea and vomiting is the reason why I'm not going to have my second until Martie is in at least preschool. Here's a variable to add to the chart... a mom I was chatting with in the park told me that she's been told that if you're not needing to shave your legs as much as normal, it's a boy. The theoretical reason why was something to do with hormones...

We both had a good laugh, but sonovagun, I _haven't_ needed to shave my legs much this summer! Let you know in November if the prediction holds!

Other possible variables to check include:

I had a girl and:

I had about 2 weeks of some sickness, mostly at night, but not too bad.
I never vomited.
I carried "basketball" all up front.
I gained a little less than 30 lbs. total.
I had gestational diabetes so my diet was pretty restricted too.
The chinese gender chart was wrong...I didn't have a boy.
I can't remember the other questions!!! I hope I answered them all.
Edited to add: I never had heartburn or anything like that. I also carried very low and never had breathing or rib problems, but my bladder took a beating!! :)

Baby #2 isn't here yet, but so far I can definitely see that I do not feel nearly as sick, have not vomited once, but am much more fatigued. Some smells do cause me to gag. With Gannon I had to have orange juice, something I've heard about boys. I seem to be craving fruits this time around. I always want sweets, no matter what my body is growing or doing. :) And Shawn did tell me I was a beautiful preggo lady, but then that's his job. :D The OB said he thought it was a girl when I said I wasn't feeling so sick, but who knows?

I also had headaches at the end of the 1st trimester and at the very beginning of the 2nd.

Didn't find out Jacob's gender, but we were pretty sure he was a boy based on some concerns we had about his kidney retaining fluid at every ultrasound. We were right!

And like KathyO's friend... I almost never needed to shave my legs. It was bizarre; I could go over a month or so with no problems. Funny thing is, though, I was told that it was a GIRL if you didn't need to shave your legs!

We didn't know what Caleb would be and I was SURE that I was going to have a girl. Great intuition, huh?!

Weight gain - A LOT with Amy, medium with Andrew (but this was more a factor of watching my diet more the second time.

Basically I found the boy and girl pregnancies were the same. What differed more was the first versus the second. For example being a second baby Andrew made my tummy pooch out in the first trimester, and he dropped about 8 weeks before birth. According to my OB this had to do with birth order and not gender.

there's a great site on the web that has 30 some questions and will then calculate the probability of either gender... mostly based on old wives tales -- but lots of fun. here's the link http://www.childbirth.org/articles/boyorgirl.html I think I scored 84% chance of boy.

---I had really bad heartburn before I got pregnant. Getting pg actually cleared it up. Only at about week 36 did I occasionally take Tums before bed.

---A little here and there. Drank ginger ale and ate saltines for a week. After that, ate whatever I wanted (red meat!).

I had the nausea going on, so I didn't care to eat much, then by the third trimester, I was hungry, but had such horrible heartburn, I couldn't eat hardly anything! The only thing that would go down easy was Coldstone Creamery. :) Of course I did manage in that short time frame to gain back all the weight I had lost + 7 more pounds.

Carpal Tunnel? Yes! It was horrible, my right side at around the 3rd month and the left side at 6 months--- I wore braces on both sides at night, only my right during the day, because I felt so foolish. My writing looked like a preschooler's!
