In response to Neve's Fun Game thread, I was wondering if you all know that you have to use your "Chinese" age and lunar calender with the Chinese gender prediction chart.

To calculate your "Chinese" age -- you are 1 when you are born. After each Chinese New Year, you add 1 to your age. So your chinese age could differ from your real age by either 1 or 2 years depending on the month.

The chart is based on lunar calendar, so you would have to tranlate the conception date from Gregorian calendar to lunar calendar to see if it predicted correctly.

This site does all that confusing age and calendar translation for you

How neat!! It was right. I guess on the other one, I calculated wrong, I didn't know about figuring out "chinese" age. Thanks!! All this time I thought it was wrong. :)

Mine was correct too! They say you can use this to "try" during the correct time to "place your order" ;) for sex of your baby.

A good guestimate would be to take the date of your last MP and add 14 or 15 days (for your OV date). That's usually pretty acurate.

Wrong for all of my kids!

OH I agree it would be a good guesstimate in my case becasue i know it happened within three days...BUT I assume each date will give you a differnt result...does that make sense???

So if I "guess" conception on the 20th it might say girl...if I guess conception on the 21st it might say boy...thus not really doing anything for me in the "guessing" game...

But in Tristan's case I knew the date and that allowed me to "play the game"...

It is correct for my son, but incorrect for my daughter.

I did it when the chart was printed in one of the parenting magazines about a year ago. It was right for both then, and I presumed that they had adjusted for the lunar/Gregorian age thing.

I just did it on this web site and it was right both times but ONLY if I used the conception date and NOT the LMP. My LMP for Amy was February 29th and if I used that date they said she was a boy. However if I used March 7 (I'm pretty sure the conception date) she was a girl.

Pretty funny what difference a week makes, hmmmm? :-)

Edited to add:

My friend has twins, a boy and a girl. How does the lunar chart work with that? :-)

This one was right! I guess I had my "age" wrong on the other one. (Or at least I hope it's right...if this is a boy, he's going to look really silly in all the clothes we have!)

Wrong for Arielle, likely wrong for this baby too! I'm not sure of the exact conception date for Arielle, but I entered the few possiblities and it was boy for each one. This time we conceived on one of two dates and again, it says boy for each. Of course I was positive that Arielle was a boy (literally shocked when I delivered her!), but we're pretty certain she's a girl now...:) I've been planning on a girl this time though, so I sure hope that ultrasonographer is right and this chart is wrong!

I just wanted to point out that the day you have sex is not necessarily the day you concieve. The little guys can hang out for awhile, up to several days, waiting for the egg to show up, or waiting to encounter the egg. So even if you only had sex once, you don't know the exact conception date for sure.

Mine is right. At least we think it is! You never know til you are holding that baby right?

And theoretically the 'girl' sperm can hang out for much longer! Supposedly the 'boy' sperm die fast and hard and the 'girl' sperm are slow and steady. Sounds like real life, doesn't it? :-)
