I am so thrilled - Tom said his first word yesterday (well, the first one after "Daddy" and "Mom," anyway!) We were playing with his rubber ducky and I hid it and asked him "where's the duck?" and he looked at me and said "duck!" He repeated it all day long - what a fun day we had! I even called his Daddy at work and Tom said "duck" on his Dad's voice mail!

I'm feeling so proud - thanks for letting me share!!!

Hooray for Tom!!! He--and his parents!--must be so proud and excited! How cute that he said it on DH's voice mail, that must have been such a great surprise! Arielle is OBSESSED with ducks as of late, I'm even thinking of doing a duck-theme for her second birthday (if I can get passed thinking that ducks are more for 1st birthday parties, that is).

Thanks for sharing the news with us!:)

Yeah!! How exciting. I can not wait for Andrew to say words instead of just screaming when he wants/needs something. How cute.

Good job, Tom-Tom!!
I guess he and Sabrina will say "duck" to each other back and forth at the retreat since that's her favorite word too!:)

They can play Duck, Duck, Goose! I actually wished I'd done a ducky birthday for him - he just loves his rubber duckies and also the duck on his Baby Einstein Neptune video. :-)

How *cool* is that?! :)

Might be an excuse to get one of those recordable picture frames.

I always thought they were a little cheesy, but I KNOW I will probably get one when Sophie starts talking! :)

How exciting!!!! My DS said his first words over the weekend! He said "ma-ma" and "da-da" on the same day. Of course, "da-da" seems to be the most fun to say. And I must also qualify that he has no idea who either "ma-ma" or "da-da" are, just that these crazy adults that he lives with have been saying those words to him as long as he can remember.

It's funny you should mention the word "duck", because last night when I was giving Sage a bath in his duck tub I got him to say something like "duck". Of course, he wasn't saying "duck" really - I don't think, at least - I think he was just practicing saying his favorite letter "d".

Congratulations!!!! He'll be chattering away in no time!!!

Duck is a great first word! I think mine was "no!" I know that my first sentence was, "No, no, and I mean it!"
