Need avatar help!!!

Okay, I'm admitting defeat. I've spent the last hour trying REALLY hard to follow instructions in old threads for either hosting an avatar to an AOL website, or by posting one as an attachment to a post here. I have failed miserably on both counts!!!

The picture is square, but I think the file size might be too big. Any idea how I can remedy this? I am a complete computer moron, so any info, however basic, would be incredibly appreciated! I really want to include the little bambino in my posts!!!

What kind of computer do you have (PC or Mac), and what program are you using when you view your photo? That information should help someone with the same program tell you exactly how to reduce the file size. I think it's likely that that is the problem.

I've got a PC, and I'm using Kodak Easy Share for my pictures. I've gotten the picture to show up in the box that says "avatar" on my profile, but it's HUGE! I think that's the problem, but I don't know how to fix it -- it took me two days to figure out how to crop the picture properly!!!

It looks like you got it uploaded. Now open the file so you see the photo and "copy" the link on that page. Then go to your profile and paste the link. I think that it should work then.

For some reason when I click on the link to my attachment, it takes me back to the page where you pick which book's forum you want to be in! I know that can't be right!

I think you need to blank out what is already there in your profile before you paste in the new URL. You're almost there! I can see the pic when I click on the attachment, what a cutie!

thank you! i think he's cute, too (not that i'm biased)! i still can't figure out how you can see him though, because i've clicked on all the attachments i posted and it just sends me back to the windsor peak forum entrance.

i know you are the avatar master, stillplayswithbarbies! so i hope i can get this figured out soon before DH comes home and wonders what the heck i've been doing on the computer for 3 hours! :)

I wonder if it has something to do with the way your computer is set up with regards to cookies? Although if you can post, it is probably right.

You can cut and paste the "http" thingy from the bottom of that post where you attached it, that is what you need to put in your profile in the avatar section.
