My baby has chapped lips!

Ellen looks like she has chapped lips! What can I do? She is breastfeeding.

Hi Shannon-
without seeing what it looks like, I thought maybe she has a nursing blister. Both my kids got them on their upper lips. Eventually they just fall off- I tried not to pull at them.

Shannon I think it is a nursing blister too. Ryan had them and I thought it was chapped lips too. He got them every week for a month in the beginning and he hasn't had that chapped look since. The little pieces of skin just come off after a day. It is icky looking though, isn't it?!

It is probably a nursing blister. It will fall off and go away and her perfect lips will be fine underneath. I don't think there is anything you can do to prevent it.

But I sure hated seeing that on my perfect brand new baby! :)
