Call the oil company! We ran out of hot water yesterday. After trying to figure out what was going on, we realized that we were out of oil. We've got a boiler and hot-water baseboard heating, so all of our hot water is heated by the oil furnace. We're on automatic delivery with the oil company, and had last gotten a delivery in April, right around the time Alex was born.
I called the oil company last night, and they came out and made a delivery (at no extra charge on Sunday night since they had let us run out). The delivery guy asked us if we had an increase in water usage, since they didn't have us scheduled for two more weeks. Yep! We had a baby, and the additional loads of laundry of baby clothes and cloth diapers upped our oil consumption.
Just something to think about if anyone else has oil-heated hot water.
