Please pray for my 10 month old nephew...

Please pray for my 10 month old nephew Jerry. He is having a MRI tomorrow to determine if he has fluid on the brain and Sixth Nerve Palsy. He has had so many health problems and recently had surgery to repair his eye, hernia and circumcision. His head is at 150% on the growth chart and he has enlarged kidneys as well. Everyone is super worried and are hoping for good results tomorrow. DH's Uncle is a physician and has been trying to keep my in-laws and SIL informed.

My SIL called me on Monday to tell me that Jerry's eye was "stuck" and looked like he was cross-eyed. She was also worried that he hasn't really said much and doesn't babble. She said that he is unusually quiet. She told me that they would probably be seen by a neurologist some time this week.

Fast forward to this evening - DH & I decide to attend our nephew's first birthday party. The In-laws offered to fly us to NY for the visit and we decided to take them up on it (they are always offering and we never do). I call my FIL to find all this out. edited to say that we were going to fly up for Jerry's birthday in October. Sorry for any confusion...

I know there are some Peds on this board. If you can lend any insight into this, I would appreciate it.

I would also appreciate all your prayers and good vibes. Jerry, Denise and Sal could really use them right now :)

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and best wishes. Jerry is going to be OK :) He doesn't have fluid on the brain or a tumor, Thank God! He does have something going on with his eyes and the 6th cranial nerve. It looks like he has to have more tests and possible evaluation for early intervention. The Drs have said that he most likely will suffer from some developmental delay.

I am so grateful for all of your prayers and support. Thanks :)

What a relief it must be to know that while there is some type of problem, that it appears that Jerry will be ok. It's a shame he will have some delays, but what a blessing the news is that there is no fluid or tumor! Will still be thinking of little Jerry and your whole family and hoping for the best!

Glad to hear the MRI was unremarkable. Has he seen a pediatric neuro-ophthalmologist?

I'm so glad to hear that you got good news! I hope that Jerry receives the best possible care and any therapies necessary and that his delays turn out to be mild and temporary. Nephews are special people, and he is lucky to have such a caring aunt!
