Do you get a giddy feeling when you refer to your child in a conversation as "my son", "my daughter"? I always feel odd, like other people use that term but not me...such a grownip sounding thing to say, it's weird to hear it coming out of my mouth!!! :)

oh golly yes! And I'm not even a first time parent! I get this little thrill everytime I say "the kids" (now that I have two) or "my daughter".

I was talking to my mom about coming out to visit and I said "the kids and I . . ." and got this goofy grin on my face. Good thing it was on the phone so she couldn't see.

Me too! I did the same thing with 'husband' when we got married. :)

I LOVE saying "Oh, my daughter...." all the time! I, too, get a giddy feeling, it's sooo cool! And then, I think...geez, I'm getting OLD!

Yes I do get giddy. Like Mary, it's the same feeling as saying my husband after I was married.

oh yes! Isn't it a wonderful and weird feeling? I can't belive I say "my daughters!" I still like to refer to them as 'the babies' so they stay babies longer and don't grow up too fast!

Sometimes we look at our kids in amazement and ask ourselves, "Are they really ours?"

And then there are the other times that we look around and say, "Oh, no! Those screaming kids aren't ours! We're just babysitting!" :)

I do the same thing! Sometimes I feel like I'm just playing house when I say "my son" or "my husband."

Then of course, reality rears its ugly head via our mortgage and various other bills. I don't remember that kind of stuff from when we used to play house!

Life really is great, though--even with the bills. I wouldn't trade my little family for anything.

Yup.

My big thing, since we have two of each, is saying "my girls", and "my boys"......it makes me so happy!

Just like when I met DH, and I first got to say "my boyfriend", then "my fiance", then finally, "my husband".

It's those wonderful possessive words that make me giddy! ;-)
