Can someone help with Avatar? Long and confusing!

I read an old post how to post an Avatar picture from those online free photo albums. I followed the directions carfully. In the directions it said to look in the source of the picture and copy the line www....jpg

Someone who uses Shutterfly like me suggested just right clicking on the picture I want to find the URL address I needed. I couldn't find the URL address from the "source" screen so I used the "right click" method.

When I added the URL address into the Avatar spot in my user profile, it said "Invalid avatar image"

I;m not sure. I used these directions and it worked for me:

I'm not sure about this (really not a pro at all), but when I first tried to put an avatar, the URL was too long AND it had some spaces in it. Anyway, it wouldn't take mine either. When we renamed it with a shorter name (and got rid of all spaces) and it worked. I noticed that yours is very long. Can you rename it on Shuttlerfly's site, so it doesn't have all of those numbers? And, it has to end in .jpg for it to work, I believe. For exapmle:

I don't really know if you can rename the picture/link or if you have to use that number. But I do think the .jpg is imperative.

Ok- I don't know how I did that. I really don't!
I used the directions from 2 old posts and suddenly it worked. The picture is a little small but I can fix that later.

Here's what I did (I think):
I "replied" to an earlier post (I went over to the bridal bargains site to do this) and at the bottom I added an attachment (Jack's photo) and posted the reply.

Then I went to the post I'd just done and clicked on the attachment so it came up. Then I hit control C to copy the http://ETC ETC address of the attachment. Then I pasted that address into the spot on the profile page where it says Avatar image.

Hope that works/helps. I hope I'm remembering correctly.

In order for the board to recognize an avatar, it has to end in jpg. The Shutterfly addresses do not end in jpg, so that is why they can't be used unless you do the view source to find the jpg behind the Shutterfly URL.

Can you see the Avatar picture next to my post or is it just me?

Also- when trying to add an attachment to my post, I click "upload file" it does nothing. It says that it is supposed to add my attachment immediately to my attachment box. What am I doing wrong?
