Hi-
There was a 2 for 1 special at the store yesterday for eggs and yogurt but they both have an exp. date of November 1st.

What's the rule here? Do I have another week? The yogurts are individual containers so they won't be opened until they are eaten.
TIA-

I always assume that I have an extra week to eat them, in a pinch.

For the longest time I did not even pay any attention to the date on eggs - mostly when I was in college. I didn't get much cooking advice from my family, and it never occurred to me that eggs would expire so soon. Luckily I never got sick. I think the extra week is probably a good rule - I always assume they are playing it safe with their dates.

I read this trick somewhere for eggs - if you put it in a glass full of water and it floats it is too old since gasses start developing inside as they age.

For yogurt and milk I always go with the one week past the exp. date. After that I toss it out.

HTH!

Thank you for the sweet compliment!! That picture is actually kind of old, she's 11 months now but she still doesn't have much hair! Daniella is also beautiful! That smile is adorable - I love everytime I see it!!!!
